CPCS net-zero since 2020
CPCS, a global provider of infrastructure management consulting services, upholds its net-zero commitment.
Key highlights:
- For 2023, CPCS offset 447 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2eq) through two high-quality Gold Standard-certified projects.
- Air travel accounted for 75% of our greenhouse gas emissions, followed by office heating and employee commuting to CPCS offices.
- CPCS advises and supports infrastructure leaders and decision makers worldwide on climate change adaptation and resilience projects in the transport and energy sectors.
Supporting credible offset projects
All 447 tonnes of CO2 equivalent were offset by purchasing carbon credits through two Gold Standard certified projects in Uganda and Malawi.
- 266 tonnes from Uganda Gender Responsive Safe Water Project
- 266 tonnes from Malawi, M’tetezi Improved Cookstoves in the Balaka District Project
Though the official offset for 2023 is indeed 447 tons of CO2 equivalent, we purchased carbon credits to offset 532 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions. This difference is to maintain quality control of emission calculations.
Advancing sustainable practices
Beyond carbon offsets, CPCS champions sustainable solutions by leading climate change-related infrastructure projects, including leading a biofuel study for the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), delivering a public transit, climate resilience and adaptation report for CSA Group, and preparing a Green Climate Fund funding proposal for the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).
As a global, employee-owned business, purpose is seamlessly woven into our work. CPCS generates economic, environmental, and social value while also working to reduce the environmental and social impacts associated with its operations. This is why CPCS has been committed to reducing and offsetting its emissions since 2020.
