Joel Carlson, P.Eng.

Joel has over 10 years of experience completing transportation systems assignments in industry and academia.
Joel specializes in transportation safety assessments specific to transportation of dangerous goods; urban, regional and national level goods movement and supply chain studies; and passenger and freight rail planning (intercity/commuter rail and multimodal facilities).
At CPCS, he has managed or supported nearly 50 consulting assignments regarding passenger and freight transportation at local, regional and national levels. Prior to his career at CPCS, he worked at CN and at the SNCF Company in research, engineering and planning capacities.
Joel obtained his Master’s in Transportation and Engineering Systems from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
