Renegotiation of the Malawi Rail Concession

Ministry of Transport and Public Works

CPCS, as lead firm, supported the Government of Malawi in negotiating a build-operate-transfer concession for a new greenfield rail line from Malawi’s western border with Mozambique to the Nkaya Junction, where it connects the Central East Railway (CEAR) with Vale; and renegotiating the railway concession agreement with CEAR from 1999, to have a single concession agreement for both. CPCS conducted a due diligence of CEAR management and prepared a draft of the new concession agreement.
