Prior to joining CPCS, John re-designed port facilities on the east coast for the Florida Transportation Technology Transfer (T2) Center.
While in university, he studied in South Africa, where he also consulted with local small and medium-sized businesses.

3 fun facts:
- Was the saxophonist of his university marching band
- Has met former Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs star Matt Bonner
- Favourite ride at Disney World was the monorail – showing early interest in mass transit
