Bernabé Sánchez
Principal Mineral Economist, Africa
As a mineral economist, I support African countries in maximizing the value of their mineral resources. I have over two decades of experience in public policy, industry analysis and corporate strategy.
I’ve focused on Guinea since 2022, initially on the economic and fiscal impact of the Simandou iron ore megaproject. More recently, I’ve advised on the drafting of the Government’s long-term development programme’s mining chapter.
My work in Guinea follows over a decade of experience in the mining industry analyzing the economics of commodity markets and investments in support of corporate and commercial strategy. During that time, I spent 5 years in a leadership role building a new international high-performing economics team in Singapore.
Prior to my work in the mining industry, I served as a UK government economist managing macroeconomic and agriculture bilateral aid programmes in Malawi.
