Optimizing rail network transformation
Metrolinx, Ontario’s regional transit authority, worked with CPCS to support the implementation and ongoing management of a System Integration Capability within the GO Expansion Program.
Client type: Public transportation agency
Location: Ontario, Canada
Project type: Project implementation
Advisory services: Sponsorship, Systems Integration, Infrastructure Analytics, program management
The GO Expansion Program is intended to bring increased service to the GO Transit Rail Network through new infrastructure, including the electrification of key sections of the network. Service over the core area of the network will operate at frequencies of 15 minutes or less to provide a transformed regional rail service to the Greater Toronto and Hamilton communities. CPCS supported Metrolinx in developing products, processes and governance to better integrate the infrastructure being delivered by the various projects and portfolios within the GO Expansion program and the rail services that are planned to be implemented over the duration of the program.
- Configuration States: We worked with the Systems Integration Sponsor and Configuration Management Committee to develop and maintain configuration state products for each rail system component.
- Process Mapping: We worked with Metrolinx stakeholders in to identify ‘swim-lanes’ for tasks being undertaken by various business units to support the implementation of each annual configuration state.
- Reporting Dashboard: We developed a reporting dashboard for use by the Systems Integration Sponsor to report on progress being made on implementing the system integration model.
- Governance: We supported the Systems Integration Sponsor to create the governance structures that could oversee and manage changes arising to projects that formed part of the overall program.
